All About Assembly Point Signs
An assembly point is a designated place where people are sign posted to wait after evacuating a building in the event of a fire or other emergency. This is normally a car park or garden area situated away from the building where people will be safe and the actual spot where people are to congregate should be marked with an assembly point sign.
It is important that the assembly point is clearly marked so that people congregate in the same place and fire marshalls can quickly account for anyone missing.
Assembly point signs are green in colour with white text and symbols which denotes a safe condition sign, and are part of our fire safety signs range. They are available in various sizes and materials including self adhesive vinyl, 1mm rigid pvc, 3mm heavy duty pvc, metal and double sided hanging signs. The metal signs can be brought either ready for fixing to a flat surface or to a post. If you wish your assembly point sign to be fixed to a post don't forget your accessories such as the post and the channel clips if required. The 76mm posts are available in lengths of 1.5m or 3m and the 50mm posts are available in 1.5m. The posts are steel poles coated in grey pvc. The channel clips are available in 50mm or 76mm depending on the thickness of the post chosen. These can all be purchased through the website on page 3.
A double sided hanging assembly point sign is a sign that is suspended from the ceiling or a roof using hanging wires and hanging ceiling eyes. The prices for hanging sign fittings are as follows:
- Extended hanging wires (18cm shortest length, 1.3 metres longest length) 75p each
- Hanging ceiling eyes with double sided adhesive for fixing 48p each
- Double hook hanging wires manufactured in 2mm thick galvanised steel ideal for a heavy hanging sign. These are priced per pair with available lengths of 400mm at £2.72, 250mm at £1.92 and 150mm at £1.12
- Suspended ceiling clip and eye 48p each
The above fittings for hanging signs are not yet available on our website but they can easily be ordered by email. Just drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org with codes and quantities and we will complete the transaction by invoice.
In addition to identifying the actual assembly point with an assembly point sign you may also need to direct people to the assembly point with assembly point signs that include directional arrows. These would normally be used if the assembly point is not immediately visible from the exit of the building so people would follow the arrows until reaching the final meeting area.
There is also an option of including numbers on the assembly point signs. If work premises cover a huge area there may be several assembly points and each department is allocated an assembly point number such as 'Fire Assembly Point 3.' The signs can be labelled with these numbers to make it clear where staff need to be and to avoid confusion.
